A bolsa ficou linda! Um pouco trabalhosa, especialmente por causa da entretela grossa que dificulta alfinetar e costurar as partes franzidas. Tem partes que a máquina tem que ir bem devagarinho. Mas compensou o uso da tal entretela. A bolsa ficou bem estruturada. E o tecido, especial!
The bag came out beautiful! A little tricky, especially because of the stiff interfacing that makes pinning and sewing through the gathering somewhat difficult. In some parts the sewing machine needed to go very slowly. But using this interfacing was well worth it. The bag is well strucutred. And the fabric, special!
I think I got excited with the bags and started making one of the patterns I mentioned on an older post. This one is of a bag by Heather Bailey. She has some bautiful things in her store, including fabric. Once in a while I visit her blog. This fabric is also hers and it is really beautiful! nI am using that strong fusible fabric interfacing. So far it seems to be working okay, we'll see!
Fiz duas sacolas "ecológicamente corretas" para minhas compras de supermercado. Usei este tecido estampado que comprei pela internet há alguns meses por US$2 o metro! Para o forro usei uma flanela amarela que tinha sobrado do forro de uma colcha. Usei pela primeira vez uma entretela colante de tecido bem forte para reforçar o fundo e gostei.
I made two "ecologically correct" bags for my supermarket purchases. I used this print fabric that I bought on Internet a few months ago for $2/yard! For the lining, I used some leftover yellow flannel. I used somevery strong fabric fusible interfacing which I had never used before for the bottom of the bag and liked it.
Ganhei este livro fantastico de meu enteado com fotos lindas e receitas da Big Apple. Meu dia foi bastante produtivo, até deu tempo de fazer uma das delicias do livro.
I got this fantastic book from my stepson with beautiful pictures and recipes from the Big Apple. My day was quite productive, I even hada time to make one of the yummies from the book.
Pudim de Pão de Banana e Nozes
Pre-aqueça o forno a 180 graus. Corte uns 8-9 pães franceses amanhecidos em cubos. Misture à parte 4 ovos, 100gr. de manteiga derretida, 3/4 xicara de açucar mascavo, 3/4 xicara de açucar granulado, 2 colheres de sobremesa de canela em pó, 1/2 colher de sobremesa de noz moscada, 1 pitada sal, 1 colher de sopa de baunilha. Depois acrescente 500ml de creme de leite e 500 ml de leite. Derrame esta mistura por cima do pão cortado e deixe de molho uns 15 minutos. Enquanto isso, coloque em uma assadeira 125gr de nozes e leve ao forno por uns 10 minutos ou até dourar e ficarem cheirosas. Tire do forno e corte em pedaçinhos. Corte em fatias 500gr de bananas (4 bananas grandes). Quando o pão estiver bem encharcado, misture as bananas e as nozes. Despeje numa forma untada e asse por mais ou menos uma hora ou até ficar firme e bem douradinho.
Banana-Walnut Bread Pudding
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut in cubes 6 cups of day-old bread. In another bowl whisk 4 eggs, 1/2 cup melted butter, 3/4 cups brown sugar, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, 1 tsp. salt and 1 tbsp. baunilha. Then add 2 cups heavy cream and 2 cups of milk. Pour over the bread cubes and let stand until the bread absorbs the liquid, about 15 minutes. In the meanwhile, put 1 cup of walnuts on a cookie sheet and toast in the oven until light brown and fragrant. Slice 1lb bananas (about 4 large ones). Add walnuts and bananas to the soaked bread and when well mixed pour into a lightly buttered 10-inch souffle dish. Bake for about an hour or until browned and set.
I finally finished this gift for a dear friend.

I finished this armchair caddy from Helen's site. It has embroidery and some quilting as well. A good present to make for a friend. Also on her site, some other really nice projects. A new one is online each Sunday for a few more weeks. Check it out!
I found these fabrics so appropriate for making kitchen towels or something like that. They are made in Brazil by Telanipo, really pretty. Apples, strawberries, grapes, corn, pineapples, bananas and carrots. In the picture, the colors look too faded, but the colors are really bright.
Today I finished this small quilt (21"x 21") using the instructions for "Five-cent Fairy Garden" by Kim Diehl, from her book Simple Blessings. I love her work and her books are simply beautiful. I feel like making all her projects!
Outro projeto do fundo do baú para acabar. Só faltava quiltar. Quiltei com o walking foot e a máquina nova para testar. Gostei e deu pra testar algo novo que normalmente não faço: quilt reto.
Another UFO. All I had to do was the quilting. I quilted it using the walking foot and the new machine so I could test it. I liked the result and I got to try something I don't usually do: straight quilting.

Os desenhos para bordar da Hugs'n Kisses são lindos mesmo. Chegaram da Tasmania em pouco mais de uma semana. Valeu, agora é só bordar!

The machine is doing a great job in quilting with my walking foot.
The designs for embroidery from Hugs'n Kisses are really pretty. They arrived from Tasmania in a little more than a week. Very worth it, now all I have to do is get to work!
Winter brings cold weeather and beautiful colors that inspire.
